The longer story of how I got here, why it matters, and my journey towards building a life worth living deep in the Welsh countryside.
Our Story
Welcome to Llannerch Helyg. The name means "willow marsh" in Welsh - a fitting name for a place where I'm putting down new roots and learning what it takes to work with the land.
I'm Claire, and I'm building a smallholding here in rural South Wales.
After a major life change led me to leave my market town and start fresh, I decided to finally pursue something I'd always wanted - a life connected to nature, working outdoors, and creating a sustainable small farm from the ground up.
I'm documenting our journey as we go along, the learning curves, the daily realities, the animals, and the slow process of transforming a piece of land into a working smallholding. It's messy, it's challenging, and it's exactly what I want to be doing.
If you're interested in smallholding, rural life in Wales, or just following along with someone figuring it all out as they go, you're welcome here.
